Kari Vadai/Kheema Vadai

A vadai made with ground meat-seasoned with spices.Goes well as a side for any meal and can also be served for snack along with tea!

Ingredients:

1 lb mutton/beef kheema

1/2 cup Channa dal /kadalai paruppu/yellow split peas

2 tsps Ginger-garlic paste

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Salt

1 egg

2 tbsps cooked mashed rice

Oil for frying.

Preparation:

  • Soak dal in water for atleast 1 hr.
  • Cook dal along with the kheema and salt in a pressure cooker.When cooked make sure all the water has evaporated.
  • Grind the cooked dal and kheema along with the ginger garlic paste,chili powder,turmeric and coriander powder.
  • Empty the mixture into a mixing bowl.
  • Beat an egg and add it to the keema mixture along with the mashed cooked rice.Mix well.The mixture should feel tight.
  • Make small balls & flatten them in your palm.
  • Heat oil & deep fry the vadais till dark brown and crispy.

Tips:

When shaping the vadais rub hands with oil or water to prevent the mixture from sticking.
If the mixture feels too lose, don’t panic add fresh white bread crumbs as required.
