Good weekend breakfast. Makes the house smell so good!
Ingredients:
1 loaf of french bread, cut into 3/4" thick slices
Butter, margarine or butter-flavored shortening
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
2/3 cup milk
Preparation:
- Heat a large pan over medium heat while preparing the custard. Whisk together eggs and sugar until well blended. Whisk in salt,vanilla and cinnamon and finally the milk.
- Melt 1/2 tablespoon butter in the pan and tilt pan to coat evenly. Dip bread in the egg mixture so both sides are covered completely and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4 or 5 minutes. Add more butter to the pan to cook remaining batches.
- Drizzle with pancake syrup.
Tips:
You can also use plain sliced white bread.
