Pepper Chicken

Pepper chicken goes very well with rice, chapati and pulav. I got this recipe from my mom.

Ingredients:

Chicken - 1/2 pound
Onion - 1 Medium sliced thin
Tomato - 1 Medium chopped
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 1/2 Tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 Tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Mint and Coriander leaves - 1/2 Cup chopped
Salt to taste
Gingelly Oil - 2 Tbsp

To Marinate:

Curd/Yogurt - 1 Tbsp
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Lemon Juice - 1 Tsp
Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Salt

Preparation:
  • Cut chicken into small pieces and add curd, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix and let it marinate for about 6 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Heat gingelly oil in a pan and shallow fry the marinated chicken pieces till its cooked. Transfer the fried chicken to a bowl.
  • In the same oil add sliced onion and ginger-garlic paste.Fry till the onion turns golden brown.
  • Add tomato and little salt. Cover and cook till tomatoes are soft. Mash it with the back of the laddle.
  • Add all masala powders and cook till oil oozes out.
  • Add fried chicken and salt. Mix till chicken gets coated with the masala.
  • Add chopped mint and coriander leaves.
  • Cook in low flame for 10 minutes.
  • Serve with rice.
Tips:

For gravy, add water and cook.
