Traditional Kerala dish that goes with rice/sambar or curd rice. Got this recipe from my mom.

Ingredients:

3/4 Cup thinly sliced Ginger(skin removed)
2 Tsp Coriander Seeds
3 Red Chillies
1/2 Tsp Tamarind Paste
Little Turmeric Powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

Seasoning:
1/4 Tsp Mustard Seeds
2 whole Red Chillies broken
Few curry Leaves
2 Tsp Oil

Procedure:
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry ginger slices till crisp and brown. Drain and keep aside.
  • Same oil fry red chillies and coriander seeds.
  • Grind the fried ingredients with turmeric powder, salt, tamarind paste and little water to a smooth paste.
  • Heat a pan with 2 tsp oil. Add mustard seeds. When it crackle add red chillies and curry leaves. To this add the ground mixture and cook in low flame till oil oozes out.

Tip:

Little jaggery can be added for sweetness.
