Palak Masoor Dal

A delicious combination of masoor dal and spinach seasoned with spices.

Ingredients:

3/4 Cup Whole Masoor Dal
3-4 Cups Chopped Spinach
1 Tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
1 big Onion chopped
1 Tomato chopped
2 Tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 Tsp Chilli Powder
1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
2 1/2 Cups Water
Salt to taste
1 Tbsp Oil

Preparation:
  • Pressure cook masoor dal with 2 1/2 cups water.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add chopped onion, little salt and ginger-garlic paste.
  • Fry till onions are golden brown.
  • Add chopped tomatoes.
  • Cover and cook in low flame till tomatoes are soft.
  • Add coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder.
  • Cook till oil floats on top.
  • Add cooked dal,spinach and salt.
  • Cook in low flame for 20 minutes.
  • Serve hot with chapathi.
