Poori / Puri

Golden brown Indian bread - deep fried till puffed and slightly crisp.Pooris are usually eaten with a potato masala .

Ingredients:



2 cups - All purpose wheat flour

3 /4 - 1 cup warm water

salt to taste

oil to deep fry


Preparation:

  • Take flour in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add salt and mix.
  • Slowly add in water - A LITTLE AT A TIME and knead well till the mixture is firm.
  • Cover and set aside for about 20 mins.
  • Make small balls, and flatten them with a poori press or a rolling pin, applying a thin layer of oil to prevent it from sticking.
  • Heat oil and deep fry pooris.
  • Press down slightly with the spoon to make the pooris puff.
  • Flip pooris over ONCE and drain them on paper towels.
  • Serve immediately with potato masala.
