Mutton Nilgiri Korma

Mutton pieces simmered in a thick coriander coconut gravy.

Ingredients:

1 lb mutton/lamb

1 cup yogurt

1 cup grated coconut

6 green chilies (use more or less according to taste)

1 bunch coriander leaves

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

1 /2 tsp khus khus/poppy seeds

2 red chilies

1 tsp coriander powder

½ tsp garam masala

2 onions sliced

1 /2 cup oil

salt to taste


Preparation:

  • Clean mutton and marinate in yogurt for 1 /2 hr.
  • Grind together –green chilies,coriander leaves,ginger garlic paste,poppy seeds,coconut,red chilies, coriander powder,garam masala and half the onions.
  • Heat oil.fry the remaining onions.
  • Add the ground spices and fry till the raw small is gone.
  • Add the marinated mutton along with the yogurt,some salt and water .
  • Cook at medium heat till meat is tender.



Tips:

It is easier to pressure cook this dish.Saves a lot of time.
