Traditional sweet dish made festive times. Since made with jaggery its got a subdued sweet taste and allows you to eat as many pieces as you want. Tastes yummy if you eat it warm. Got this recipe from my mom.

Ingredients:

1 Cup Raw Rice
1/2 Cup Parboiled Rice
1/4 cup Urad Dhal
1/4 Tsp Methi Seeds
1/2 Coconut
1 small Ripe Banana
1 Tbsp Maida
1 1/2 Cup Jaggery grated
Oil to deep fry

Preparation:
  • Soak raw rice, parboiled rice, urad dhal and methi seeds for 4 hours.
  • Grind this with grated coconut, banana, maida and jaggery.
  • The batter should be of dosa batter consistency.
  • Leave the batter aside for 9 hours.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and pour a small laddle of batter directly into oil.
  • Once the appam rises turn slowly and cook the other side.
  • Serve hot or cold.


Tips:
  • Cook in medium flame.
  • Little cardamom powder can be added.
  • Amout of jaggery can be adjusted according to your taste.
