Fried Cauliflower

This fried cauliflower is a definite hit with kids.For adults ,turn up the heat (chili powder or black pepper powder) a bit if needed and serve it with a nice sauce - sweet chili garlic sauce is my favorite.This dish is good both as an appetizer or a side.

Ingredients:
1 medium cauliflower
1 egg
1 tbsp corn flour
freshly ground black pepper/chili powder
salt
oil for deep frying

Preparation:
  1. Cut the cauliflower into bite size pieces.
  2. Steam/Boil the cauliflower with a little salt until half cooked and let it dry(the Ziploc or Glad steaming bags make it very easy)
  3. For the Batter-beat the eggs and corn flour.
  4. Add the black pepper/chili powder & salt.
  5. Adjust seasoning & mix well.
  6. Heat oil.
  7. Dip the florets in the batter and deep fry until crisp & golden brown.
  8. Transfer to plate lined with paper towels.
  9. Serve with ketchup or sauce/dip of your choice.
Tips:
If you do not want to steam the cauliflower before hand, make sure the pieces are small enough ,so they cook through fully when frying.
Make sure the steamed cauliflower is fully dry before frying-otherwise it will not be crisp
