Okra / Vendakkai with Curd

Deep fried okra in a creamy curd based gravy.

Ingredients:

3/4 lb vendakkai / Okra
1 medium Onion sliced
1 medium Tomato chopped
1/2 Tsp Chilli Powder
2 Tsp Coriander Powder
1/2  Tsp Jeera Powder
1 Cup Curd
Oil to deep fry
Salt to taste

Preparation:
  • Cut okra into small pieces and deep fry till golden brown.
  • Heat 2 Tsp oil in a pan, add onion and little salt.
  • Fry till golden brown and add tomatoes.
  • Cook till tomatoes are soft.
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder and jeera powder.
  • Cover and cook in low heat till oil floats on top.
  • Now add fried okra and salt.
  • Mix well till okra gets coated with the masala.
  • Cook in low heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Put the stove off .
  • Add curd after 10 minutes and mix.

Amazing dish
Thanx Ahila for this wonderful dish...my least favorite vegetable is okra..but this gravy did wonders..i loved it and in my husbands office all went head over heels over this simple yet delicious item..once again thanx to Hanee and you for posting such easy yet yummy dishes..
