Crispy Fried Cauliflower

This fried cauliflower is a definite hit with kids.For adults ,turn up the heat a bit if needed (add chili powder)and serve it with a nice sauce - sweet chili garlic sauce is my favorite.This dish is good both as an appetizer or a side.

Ingredients:

1 medium cauliflower
1 egg
2 tbsp corn flour
6 tbsp flour
freshly ground black pepper
salt
oil for deep frying

Preparation:
  • Cut the cauliflower into bite size pieces.
  • Steam the cauliflower until half cooked and let it dry(the Ziploc or Glad steaming bags make it so easy)
  • For the Batter-beat the eggs, dissolve the corn flour & flour in a little water & add it to the egg mixture.
  • Add pepper & salt.
  • Adjust seasoning & mix well.
  • Heat oil.
  • Dip the florets in the batter and deep fry until crisp & golden brown.
  • Transfer to plate lined with paper towels.
  • Serve with ketchup or sauce/dip of your choice.
Tips:
If you do not want to steam the cauliflower before hand, make sure the pieces are small enough ,so they cook through fully when frying.
